A bit about me…

At this risk of seeming far too interested in myself, I did want the first of my posts here to give an introduction into my person in hopes that it’ll help you to understand the passion, intention, and motivation behind this blog.

I grew up in a small town in the Midwest with two incredible parents and one sister much older than me. I became a follower of Jesus at the tender age of five, and He has been my constant anchor ever since. I spent much of my time at church, in school, or playing. I had a delightful childhood, followed by some difficult circumstances related to my dad’s health and employment that really caused me to grow up quickly, but also develop a sober attitude and a sense of intentionality toward life that I am so grateful for.

My parents began homeschooling me not far into my eighth grade year. During my freshman year of high school, I discovered three passions of mine that have driven so much of what I’ve done in the time following: photography, writing, and the clear calling on my life to be a wife, mama, home educator, and homemaker. I share a bit more about the latter in my Homemaking 101 Guide, available on Etsy.

So much has happened in the last decade and a half… a cross-country move, more health struggles in my family, switching churches and couple of times, pursuing photography and teaching preschool, meeting and marrying the most wonderful, Christlike man, becoming a homemaker in my very own home, and having two beautiful, precious children.

In everything I have walked through, God has been faithful to redeem the hard parts, to guide me through each decision, and to provide me with so much joy and many blessings that I could never earn. I have learned so much through the growth, trials, experiences, and delightful seasons in my nearly thirty years of life, and I am eager to share everything I can in the hopes that it will encourage and challenge others in their own journeys.

On this blog, you will find a myriad of topics: homemaking, Christianity, marriage, motherhood, home education, homesteading, poetry, and more. Ultimately, my goal is this: to glorify God and to encourage others.

My content might not always fit the algorithm. The algorithm says, “Pick a niche! Narrow your audience! Stay on topic.” But I simply cannot. If I am going to add something unique to this space, I must let it flow out of who I am. Yes, homemaking is a huge passion and calling of mine, and I am greatly excited at the thought of adding to the conversation around it — most especially in our modern world. But flowery prose and (prosetry?) and motherhood and homeschooling and homesteading and marriage and Christianity… these are all equally important aspects of who I am and things I am compelled to write about. So here, you will find a lot of homemaking inspiration and information. But you’ll also find other things. And I hope that’s okay. It won’t make the algorithm happy. But in conclusion, I pray it will add to your enjoyment all the same.
