Our 2024-2025 School Year Curriculum Picks – Pre-K Homeschool

Welcome back, friends!

Today we will be discussing homeschooling curriculum.

I polled my Instagram followers and, as a result, first shared our 2024-2025 school year curriculum picks there. However, I received some interest in a written post here on my blog, complete with links to the various resources. As a quick disclaimer, I am not affiliated with any of these companies, but I am happy to share what we use with links to make your own back to school shopping easier! We have purchased these resources with our own money, often on sale or secondhand, or been given things as gifts.

Also, I will be referring to this post I shared back in March throughout this post, so feel free to check that out! I stand behind all I wrote in that post, though our resources have morphed a bit since that was published.

Without further introduction, here is our curriculum lineup for this school year (with the disclaimer that things are always subject to change as we make our way throughout the year).

Language Arts

We are still making our way through The Good and the Beautiful’s Preschool Course. We are over 2/3 of the way through the book. Once we have completed this, I plan to purchase and begin The Good and the Beautiful’s Kindergarten Prep Course.

Along with this, we are still using The Good and the Beautiful’s Doodles and Pre-Writing for Littles, Part 1; I’ve purchased Part 2 and we’ll move right along into that when the first part is finished.

Finally, as a fun, little supplement to language arts, we are reading through this set of My First Bob Books: Pre-Reading Skills — reading one or two booklets per week.

Bible

A few things remain the same from my last post: the Sing to the Lord Hymnal and the Truth and Grace Memory Book are being utilized daily (studying one hymn per month). I’ve also compiled a playlist on Apple Music of all of the hymns we’ve learned so far to play around the house so we don’t forget what we’ve worked hard to learn!

Along with these things, we are working our way slowly through The Biggest Story and will most likely be following that up with The Complete Illustrated Children’s Bible. Finally, we are using the Charlotte Mason Scripture Memory System, though I have created my own set of cards including verses we have already memorized, once again to reinforce what we’ve previously memorized.

She will also attend church on Sunday mornings and Wednesday night Cubbies regularly, and we are doing family devotions together in the evening (currently going through The Jesus Storybook Bible).

Calendar Time

This has not changed at all since my last post; saying an opening prayer, reciting through Pledge of Allegiance, using the same Melissa and Doug Magnetic Calendar and 2024 wall calendar (our exact style isn’t available), same chalk board, and same songs (we are adding a Months of the Year song). Same Musical Shaker Eggs.

Morning Basket

Our Sing a Song of Seasons Poetry Book is the same. But, everything else in our morning basket has changed! And we are doing some fun new things.

First, we’re using this Logic Activity Pack from Teachers Pay Teachers. I laminated the pages and added Velcro dots onto the pieces to make using it easier!

We are also doing the Science for Little Hearts and Hands: Fields and Flowers Course from The Good and the Beautiful! This has been so much fun to do together, and it goes beautifully along with our nature journal.

Next, we are doing the Pre-K Geography by DK Workbooks. We’re loving this, as well!

Then, we’re using a couple of books on human anatomy: Me and My Amazing Body and Look Inside Your Body by Usborne.

Finally, we are playing the Tiny Polka Dot math game to help with subitizing.

A note regarding math: we recently completed this Mathematical Reasoning Beginning 1 Workbook by The Critical Thinking Company. I am giving us a break before starting their Beginning 2 level, but will purchase this at some point during this school year, perhaps in the New Year.

Extras

A few other things we’ll be doing to supplement and reinforce what we’re learning throughout the year are:

Supplies

And finally, here is a short list of supplies we have purchased for the year, including my planner and the index card set for the Charlotte Mason Scripture Memory System!

What are you doing for your children’s education this school year; are you homeschooling, private-schooling, charter-schooling, or public-schooling?

If you’re homeschooling like we are, what curriculum are you using this year?
